ALEKSANDRA
DERRA

I am a philosopher, translator and philologian. With a constant enthusiasm I have been working as a lecturer in the Instiute of Philosophy at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Poland) and as research visiting fellow at Centre for Gender and Women’s Studies at Trinity College in Dublin (Ireland).

I had the pleasure of being a visiting fellow in Centre for Logic and Analytic Philosophy at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) and Centre for the Humanities at Universiteit Utrecht (the Netherlands). I was also on a very salutary placement at Kings College in Oxford and at Subfaculty of Philosophy of Oxford University.

I have been working on the issues of contemporary philosophy of science and science and technology studies in feminist perspective. I am interested also in the philosophy of language, the phenomenon of corporeality in culture and subjectivity in contemporary feminist theories.

I have published two books: „Odsłonić tajemnicę znaczenia. Eseje z filozofii języka” (Essays in philosophy of language, Toruń 2011) and „Kobiety (w) nauce. Problem płci we współczesnej filozofii nauki i w praktyce badawczej” (Women in/of science. Gender problem in philosophy of science and scientific practice, Warsaw 2013), I coedited "Horyzonty konstruktywizmu. Inspiracje, perspektywy, przyszłość" (Horizons of constructivism. Inspirations, perspectives and future, Toruń 2016) and "Studia nad nauką i technologią. Wybór tekstów" (Science and technology studies reader, Toruń 2014) Some of my publications occured in „Przegląd Filozoficzny”, „Teksty Drugie”, „Studia Semiotyczne”, „Filozofia nauki”, „Constructivist Foundation”. I have translated works of Stanley Fish, Rosi Braidotti, Brunon Latour.

At the moment I am working on constructive critiques of neuroscience.
